The Role

Ambition Community Trust is seeking a skilled and compassionate Teaching Assistant (Interventions Support Worker) with experience in supporting pupils with Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) and/or Emotional, Behavioural and Social Difficulties (EBSD), who excels as part of a team and has an understanding of a range of teaching, learning and behaviour regulation strategies. The successful candidate will join a enthusiastic and welcoming team at Castlefield Campus and will join us in motivating students to strive for success while maintaining a healthy learning environment for all children within the school.


This role will involve:


  • Deliver targeted academic and therapeutic interventions to individuals and small groups, in line with students’ EHCPs and personalised learning plans.
  • Support students with a range of complex needs including SEMH, autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties, using trauma-informed and restorative approaches.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to adapt and differentiate learning materials to meet individual needs and promote engagement.
  • Monitor and record student progress, emotional wellbeing, and behaviour, providing timely feedback to teachers and senior leaders.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation through structured strategies, including sensory support, de-escalation techniques, and visual aids.
  • Encourage independence, resilience, and social interaction through consistent modelling and support.
  • Liaise with families, external professionals, and internal teams to ensure joined-up support and continuity of care.
  • Maintain accurate records of interventions, safeguarding concerns, and pupil outcomes in accordance with school policies.
  • Participate in training and professional development to enhance your skills in intervention delivery and SEN support.
  • Contribute to the creation of a safe, inclusive, and aspirational learning environment that reflects the values of Castlefield Campus.
  • Accompanying groups on trips.
  • Supporting assessment and evidencing learning.
  • Working with the teacher to create stimulating classroom displays and learning resources.
  • Maintaining a safe and positive environment for all learners.
  • Creating opportunities for all learners to reach their potential, irrespective of ability.


The right candidate will:

• Be educated to National Qualifications Framework Level 3 standard, e.g. NVQ 3, A/AS levels or equivalent.

• Have a proven ability to work on their own initiative.

• Have a high level of communication skills and the ability to relate positively to children and adults.

• Excel in using relevant technology/equipment.

• Bring a can-do attitude to the role.

• Be committed to the happiness well-being, self-esteem and progress of everyone at the school.
