The Role

Castlefield Campus, part of Ambition Community Trust, is seeking a compassionate, resilient, and proactive Mentor/Keyworker Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. This role involves supporting students with complex needs, including social, emotional, behavioural, and learning difficulties, in a nurturing and inclusive environment that reflects our commitment to high expectations and personalised support.


Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a keyworker for a small caseload of students with complex needs.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support in and out of the classroom.
  • Implement and monitor individual support plans, behaviour strategies, and EHCP targets.
  • Support students in managing their emotions and behaviour positively.
  • Liaise with families, external agencies, and school staff to ensure consistent support.
  • Maintain accurate records of interventions, progress, and incidents.
  • Promote student independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.


Essential Requirements

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and solution-focused under pressure.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.


Desirable

  • NVQ Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly SEMH or autism.
  • Team Teach or similar de-escalation training.
  • Experience in a specialist or alternative provision setting.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice or restorative approaches.
